Project: Cathodic Protection to the Columns of a Listed Masonry Clad Steel Framed Building
Site: Central London
Structure Type: Masonry Clad Steel Framed Building
The building was constructed in the 1930s, designed in the neoclassical style and clad in Portland stone. The steel frame was suffering from corrosion which had resulted in the cracking and spalling of the surrounding masonry. The contract required us to design and specify an impressed current cathodic protection system to the steel columns of the Grade II listed building.
Corrosion Prevention Limited was retained by the design and build contractor, Concrete Repairs Limited to act as their corrosion specialist. We designed the cathodic protection system, provided detailed construction drawings and installation specifications. We also provided technical supervision of the installation. Subsequently we have undertaken the operation and monitoring of the system for the building facilities management company.
